Default Famine Ranger

hey im looking for suggestions for a post-AoE nerf Famine Ranger build, since Sympathetic visage now causes fleeing. the intent of this build would be to farm UW/trolls. as the last ranger i played was a fire b/p, and it was my 1st char, im not very familiar anymore with it. any suggestions or your own personal builds/templates are MUCH appreciated.

Without Sympathetic Visage or Ancestors their energy won't drop to zero so nothing will get damaged.

Try the trolls with a Barrager Build, it still works but the drops are still BS.

i heard that using Fear Me in conjunction with SV will still make the energy drop, just not quickly, and they still lose all adrenaline. if anyone knows if this will still work, please post.

The Prince - theres no effective way of consistently draining their energy to 0 fast enough for Famine to kill them (since when they spread out..they regen energy..and it starts the whole draining process over again, and they are likely fully healed back by the time Famine starts hitting them again..). . Fear Me will slowly keep them down IF they stay in range of it, and IF enough of the aggro is even still on you for you to consistently use Fear me...Both of those fall into the "luck" department.

As for Barrage+Vicarious builds, they WORK, but they are slower too...since..you guessed it...Monsters will spread out and try to regen health when barrage is hitting them too.

So is the only way to efficiently farm UW a trapper group now? it seems that Anet completely nerfed the Spirit Bonder and 600/smiter team, pretty much nerfed famine ranger, and definitly nerfed 55/SS dual team. unfortunately, I wasnt a huge farmer and thus dont have 250 ectos in storage to give me some income to start off my NF characters. anyways, if anyone has any good trapper builds plz help out a poor fool who bought 15k armor right before losing main income source

They "nerfed" all mob damage attacks (SS, SoJ) and I have to say that I like this change. Trapping ftw

i already have a ranger character and enough cash reserves to build a trapper, but im not sure as to the best build for it, or even an effective one, as I played as an interrupter/barrager and for a little while a choking gas ranger. Im not sure if i should start a new thread or not but w/e....

i tried famine after the update, and sv did make them scatter, so we tried something new, my ranger casts mending and balths on the 55, he takes sv and av in there place, u lose 1 pip of regen, but the build still works, as long as ranger stays out of aggro and the one pip could easily be fixed by bringing a mo/r instead of a r/mo, but u lose some attribute in dmg dept. harder? yes, but completely nerfed? not hardly.

Erm, it doesn't any difference who casts SV/AV. They will scatter.

we blasted through a typical smite run, as long as I (ranger) stayed out of aggro, they didnt scatter for the monk at all, the only time we found any aggro issues was when i came into range, once i stopped doing that , it becamejust a matter of waiting out the sv. i will be trying this again tonite and hopefuly we get the same results, if not, back to trapping for me, which was always more fun for me anyways

Barrage farming is much more difficult since the update. I wouldn't say impossible, but it's not as worthwhile.

smite attack so gawd awfull fast that a hear me monk can suck the energy outa all them before the ranger is even done pulling..

then have the ranger throw down famine and they die very quickly.. i did make a guide on this.. it still works even after the update.. just dont use sv on smite

I've been wondering about htis..I've found a number of good builds. I'm working on fiddling with these builds to use in UW.

Use a Famine build to solo Hekets pretty damn fast (10 seconds when youre in aggro).
Though it's not reliable at all...but fun =]
